The academic program is organized on a rotating block schedule. Ten (10) credits per semester is the maximum course load; students take two 90 minute block schedules, and six 45 minute class schedule. Students attend 2 block classes and the regular class daily. Block classes are year-long; each block meets every day. Block Scheduling was instituted in 2008. We follow a semester report card system.
The Iman Academy Dual Credit program enables juniors/seniors to enroll in freshman courses and earn college credits at local institutions of higher education. Students are encouraged to take a rigorous course load of AP classes and we believe in AP for all. On average we have approximately 30 AP exams administered each year. We had 5 AP Scholar Honors and 15 students scoring a 3, 4, or 5 on their AP exam in 2011-2012. AP courses are offered in English language, English Literature, U.S. History, Government (United States and Comparative), Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Art History, Economics, AP Calculus, and Psychology. AP English Language is offered in 10th grade. AP is an open enrollment program, following the methodology of AP for all. Pre-AP classes are offered in English and Math through the College Board Spring Board program starting in 6th grade.
Final grades will be posted to the transcript after graduation in May. Mid-year grades will be posted to the transcript in January. Current report card grades will be noted on the transcript any time before the graduation date.
